Patients are then referred back to their primary health care for follow up.” Tippah County Hospital believes having the service locally with be very beneficial to the community. Patients will not have to drive and be in such discomfort on the road; they can have the colonoscopy here at home on a Saturday and be ready to go right back home.

Recent new guidelines recommend that all persons should start getting a colonoscopy at age 45 and definitely by age 50 (discuss with your doctor). Those who are at risk should consider one earlier based on a conversation with their primary care physician. Additionally, patients having problems can also benefit from the procedure. An early screening colonoscopy is the number one prevention of colon cancer deaths. Colorectal cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in America.
